The project
Nature, stacked above the water
Wedyan rises beside the Dubai Canal, a tower of soft, layered terraces that take their shape from desert dunes, valleys and mountains. It is Kengo Kuma's first building in Dubai, and it was designed to feel calm in a busy city.
Every home opens onto a deep terrace full of planting, so the line between inside and out fades. Each residence has two kitchens: a show kitchen for the family and a service kitchen with its own entrance for a chef.
Some homes also have a private pavilion modelled on a Japanese tea house. You can make it a lounge, a place to meditate or a recording studio.
